Synopsis: During the English Civil War, Sir Thomas Fairfax, though aristocratic by birth, commands the Parliamentary armies in the Battle of Naseby. In the aftermath of the war, Fairfax finds himself caught between his loyalty to Oliver Cromwell and his love for his aristocratic wife Lady Anne with tensions rising between Fairfax and Cromwell when they disagree about whether to put Charles I on trial for his life.
